Niue Island, South Pacific

Niue is reputedly the largest upraised coral atoll in the world. A single but small land mass surrounded by very deep water with drop-offs occurring very close to the land.

The island's isolation and coral makeup create an exciting rugged coastline. The exceptional underwater visibility is due to the porous limestone; it has no lakes or streams, so all rainwater filters through this rock into the sea removing much sediment.
